Save the Dates: Wednesday, June 24th from 2pm-8pm (General Public) at the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds for the Chippewa County Clean Sweep. Hazardous waste will be accepted for FREE from ALL Chippewa County Residents!

Chippewa County will be providing residents with a special clean up to dispose of their household hazardous wastes, appliances, electronics, fluorescent bulbs, and scrap metal in an environmentally safe manner. Improper disposal of these products can cause fires and injuries to people and animals as well as groundwater contamination.

Take a look in your garage, kitchen, basement, or workshop. Some of the household products you find here may require special consideration in their use, storage, and disposal. Improper disposal of these products can cause fires, injuries to people and animals, and groundwater contamination. Chippewa County is making it easy for residents to get rid of household hazardous waste. Please consult the document below for itemized lists on what to bring and what NOT to bring.


  • Freon Appliances – $15/each
    Refrigerator, Freezer, Dehumidifier, Air Conditioner
  • Non-Freon Appliances - Free
  • Water Heater, Water Softener, Dishwasher, Washer, Dryer, Stove, Furnace, Humidifier, Microwave


  • Monitor - $5/each
  • TV - Plastic or LCD - $20/each
  • TV - Wood - $40/each
  • TV - Projection - $40/each
  • All other electronics - FREE




Oil/Solvent Based Paint, Varnish, Stripper, Pesticide, Fuel Mixture, Batteries, Fluorescent Bulbs, Waste Oil & Filters, Antifreeze, Poison, Mercury, 1 lb. or 20 lb. Propane Cylinders



Latex paint, sharps, tires, and furniture will not be accepted at the collections.

Hazardous waste will be accepted again for FREE from ALL Chippewa County residents on June 24th at the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds!
