NWSF EXHIBITOR MENTOR PROGRAM & SHOW

6:00 pm - Pig Pals Show Begins
We are excited to share an opportunity for special needs youth to experience exhibiting a trained pig
with
the support of youth mentors who are Chippewa County 4-H and FFA members.
Open to special needs youth between grades 6-12 attending a Chippewa County School.
Each participant will be paired with at least two youth mentors and a tamed pig under the supervision of adult
volunteers.
Everyone will meet at 5:15 in the Custer Coliseum for the introductions and welcome.
Parents will remain in the coliseum for the opportunity meet other families with youth participating in the
show. Participants will go to the connected L.E. Phillips Building with their mentors and adult volunteers to
meet their pigs and learn some show skills.
The Pig Pals Show will begin at 6:00 pm in Custer Coliseum, which has a show ring surrounded by a 6-foot
fence and a thick layer of shavings on the floor. There are bleachers for spectators to view the show.
This event is free and limited to the first 12 registered participants. Participants will receive three one-day fair admission passes (pre-Fair), and an event t-shirt and ribbon at the Fair. Required Attire includes closed-toed shoes, pants and the Pig Pals T-shirt (Pig Pals T-shirt will be provided). A parent or guardian must remain present during the duration of the show.
There are a variety of activities, lights, and sounds at the fair and in the barns. Please bring any devices
necessary to enhance this opportunity for your participant. Parents and guests are encouraged to watch the
show from the Custer Coliseum bleachers but will not be allowed in the show ring during the show.
